Conventional Wisdom is Neither

The conventional Democratic Party wisdom is still touting a Hillary Clinton candidacy, with perhaps Barack Obama in the #2 spot, thus giving Republicans enough affirmative action jokes to carry them right through the next 27 months.

More recently, Mrs. Clinton has received a less-than-enthusiastic response in public appearances, and now the glow is beginning to fade from Barack Obama's star as he continues to sound more and more like a typical "talk the talk but don't walk the walk" Democrat.

In fairness, I don't think Obama saw himself as any kind of Great African-American hope. Yes, he can work a crowd when he has to, but I knew very early on -- when he refused to stand up for not certifying the Ohio vote, that this was a guy who was very much going to adhere to Freshman Senator protocol, and did NOT represent any kind of change.

Today, Matt Stoller at MyDD dares to blaspheme this Democratic messiah manqué -- and most of the commenters agree.
